No posts. Just work.

MoonBite is live and heads-down. The real build log is the source history at moonbite.org/git, updated every time code lands. Written posts show up here only when there's something worth your time — not before.

17 Oct 2026

Mainnet relaunched from a clean genesis.

MoonBite's earlier chains — a public beta and an interim relaunch — served their purpose and are now retired. Every balance on them, the founder's included, is void. Mainnet starts clean.

Mainnet starts from a fresh genesis block whose coinbase message is permanent and verifiable by anyone:

MoonBite: fair launch, no premine, every coin mined from zero

From block 0, everyone mines under the same rules: 10 MBITE per 2-minute block, halving every 1,650,000 blocks, a ~33,000,000 MBITE cap, RandomX CPU proof-of-work. No premine, no presale, no allocation. Download the miner, run one command, and you compete from the same start line as everyone else — including us.

One real post lives here so far — the mainnet launch note above. The cards below are topics we plan to cover, not articles you can read yet. When a piece is real, it takes a placeholder's spot, exactly like the launch note did.
Right now

The real log lives in the source

Every decision, change, and tradeoff is written down — in commits and in Architecture Decision Records. Public, readable, no account required. Don't take our word for it; read it.

Commit history

The most detailed record we have. Every change to the node, the wallet, the site, and the tooling is logged with a description. It's messy, granular, and honest — which is the whole point.

Architecture Decision Records (ADRs)

The big calls — emission schedule, fee model, fair-launch policy, founder allocation — live in ADR files, with the reasoning attached. Right now they're the closest thing to long-form writing on MoonBite.

What we plan to write

Topics we intend to cover — not posts you can read yet. No dates, no authors, no previews. When a piece is live, it takes one of these cards' place.

How MoonBite mining works — upcoming
RandomX proof-of-work, plainly. How difficulty gets set, and what your miner is actually grinding on. Written for curious people who aren't cryptographers.
Why fair launch? — upcoming
No premine. No ICO. No founder allocation. Why we made those calls — and why they belong in consensus code, not a promise nobody can enforce.
Self-custody without fear — upcoming
A plain guide to holding your own keys — backing up a seed, checking an address, and why "not your keys, not your coins" is a fact, not a bumper sticker.
From Litecoin Core to MoonBite — upcoming
What we changed, what we kept, and why forking a battle-tested codebase isn't cutting corners — it's building on ground that already holds weight.
Security hardening: what we shipped — upcoming
A straight look at what's built into the node, wallet, and explorer — TLS pinning, auth requirements, fee caps, the SOS vault. And an honest note on what has and hasn't been audited yet.
The path to mainnet — upcoming
What has to be true before mainnet goes live — an honest tally of what's done, what isn't, and what we're still watching. No hype dates. Just the checklist.

MoonBite is built in the open. If you've run the node, shipped a tool, or have something accurate and honest to say about the project, email support@moonbite.org. Good writing is a contribution too.
